Although the past few months have been filled with uncertainty, one thing we are certain of here at Manchester Futsal is the excitement that comes with announcing our new Club Secretary, Chris Berrevoets.
Chris, who has just finished his term as Chairman for the FA National Youth Council, will replace Stuart Taylor as Secretary after a 6-year tenure. First and foremost, we'd like to extend our overwhelming gratitude to Stuart and wish him well in his future endeavours.
While there hasn't been much to update our fanbase on recently, we decided to catch up with incoming Secretary Chris Berrvoets to get a picture of the kinds of things the club can expect in the future.
Having been involved with the club's event team in the past, was this the natural next step?
Being involved in the club has been a great opportunity to surround myself with passionate and knowledge individuals within the Futsal community. Whether playing, coaching, spectating or working behind the scenes, everyone at Manchester Futsal club is one big team. The role working with the events team has been brilliant and I have grown in connection with the club. I feel with my experience and connection, I can put myself forward to serve the club in the best way possible."
Can you give us an idea of the kinds of qualities you hope to share with the club as Secretary?
"I'm fortunate to be finishing a comprehensive Youth Leadership programme with The FA, recently ending my tenure as Chair of The FA Youth Council. I was therefore the representative on the FA Council, including a seat on the FA Futsal Committee. With this experience, I'm confident that bringing a growth mindset to the role and a strong work ethic, we can continue the growth of MFC. I share the same high standards for quality for MFC and with a great passion and desire for consistent improvement, I am looking forward to the opportunity."
Have you got any burning desires in terms of club development you are aiming to focus on?
"The club has a range of different areas which are being led by highly capable individuals. My personal motivation lie within people development and administration. I want to ensure that everyone that has a role within MFC is best equipped with receiving high levels of support and guidance towards their development. This can only be done if we sustain the brilliant culture of MFC that is renowned for its family feel."
"Whilst many people might not value the administration of a club, I believe it is part of a vital lifeblood to ensure that every part is running smoothly. Improving processes around safeguarding, documentation and internal communication are some of the key areas which I will focusing on."
We are all very excited to see what the future holds for Chris and the club moving forward, but none more so than Chairman Simon Wright, who had this to say upon confirming the announcement.
"I'd like to place on record my sincere thanks to Stuart Taylor our outgoing Secretary who has been a huge support to myself and the club over the last 6 years"
"We're really delighted to appoint Chris into the crucial role of Club Secretary at Manchester Futsal Club. Chris brings a huge amount of experience in football administration and leadership. His professional qualities and positive attitude will be a huge asset for the club and our management team"
"Chris is a young man who has an exciting career ahead of him. His leadership of the FA National Youth Council over the last year has shown his ability to bring new ideas and galvanise support for collective action".
"I'm really looking forward to working alongside Chris to quality assure all of our administrative practices and develop new ways to improve the club behind the scenes."
