Match Preview: Leicester vs Manchester

by Charlie Rhodes

After kicking off the new year with an impressive 5-2 victory away to Loughborough, this week sees the return of the National Futsal League, with Manchester looking to cement their place in the play-off positions.

Havig ended 2019 with a commanding win over Sheffield in December, the Blues will be hoping to continue finding their rich vein of form when they travel down to Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

In the reverse fixture earlier on in the season, Manchester ran out eventual victors, with the scoreline finishing 5-3 having trailed at half time. Two goals from Jake Barnes, who remains Manchester's top scorer in the NFL this season, was enough to secure the three points.

Elsewhere in the league, leaders Oxford travel to Cambridge in a top of the table clash that could benefit Manchester. While the blues are six points off second place, they have two games in hand over Cambridge, so if results elsewhere swing in their favour, it could place them in a very promising postion heading into the end of January.

Sergi Saldana and his side face a lenghty trip down to the East Midlands, with kick-off scheduled for 3:30pm at the Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre
