Manchester Women’s Futsal will step onto the court once more this afternoon in the Super League North as they face up against unbeaten Morecambe Ladies Futsal.
After being knocked out of the FA Futsal Cup by Norton, the Blues reacted well to their short cup run and followed up with a hard earned 1-1 draw against Tranmere Rovers, in what was a very physical affair.
Manchester will be without shot stopper Becky Wilkins as she recovers from a broken arm sustained in training earlier in the year.
Morecambe will head into this afternoon’s game on the back of a 9-7 win against Liverbird last time out, which was a very close game as Liverbird fought with them until the very last whistle on the day.
Team captain Leanne Skarratt spoke to ManchesterFutsal.com as she is fully aware of the qualities that Morecambe possess as they are unbeaten in the league this season, but feels that their performance last time out against Tranmere came at the right time after their disappointment in the FA Futsal Cup.
“We know that Morecambe are yet to drop any points in the league this season. That’s some feat, and it shows as they’ve been performing consistently well. We have to play our game, think about the things we’ve worked on with Sergi in training and give 110% out there on the court.
“I think our league performance against Tranmere after the cup game was a good response. Unfortunately, we drew 1-1 and we were very unlucky not to get the three points on the day. But our performance reflected a team that bounced back from our FA Futsal Cup disappointment the previous week.”
Leanne continued, “we always have to believe we can win. Otherwise, we might as well stay at home. It will be tough, but we know that when we perform at our best level we are a talented team who are hard to beat.”
The game will take place at the Northgate Arena in Chester this afternoon, kick-off at 2:15pm.
