The decision marks a new chapter for the Club and Chairman Simon Wright spoke to manchesterfutsal.com about his excitement for the upcoming season.
He said: "It's an exciting prospect and something we've been building towards. Ultimately, the Club has been working and building our infastructure to deliver on a higher level for a while now.
"We've got to make sure that the Club can manage with the expectation realistically and now we've got to focus on getting everything in place and build on the solid foundations we already have.
"The players will now play in a more competitive league and it will provide more challenges for them, as well as giving off a higher level of entertainment for our supporters."
Wright continued: "We now have a pathway for our younger players at the Club and we can say to them that there is a route through to the highest level of futsal in England, plus the UEFA Futsal Champions League.
"There will be a heavy focus on English players as there has to be a minimum of six English players in a matchday squad.
"The league is focusing on home-grown players and it's something we've been trying to do for a while."
Our Academy side competed in the North Second Division in 2016/17 and they will now take their place in another newly-formed league, the Third Division.
This division will be split regionally, North and South, and is currently undergoing the process to select the teams that will join MFC for the upcoming season.
In other news, Sam Richardson will continue in his Interim Manager role for the forseeable future with an announcement about the future of the role to come in the next few weeks.
